Table sugar (sucrose) is widely used to sweeten many beverages,
but few people seem to realize that many beverages, including so
called “healthy” fruit juices, contain large amounts of sugar. For
example, Tropicana Twister Soda – Orange contains 35
grams
of sugar per 8 oz. and many other juices have
similar sugar content. Assuming that sucrose is the only sugar
present in  Tropicana Twister Soda – Orange, calculate
how many moles of ATP you will be able to generate from full
oxidation of sucrose present in one 8 oz can. Molecular mass of
sucrose is 342 g/mol.
