*Please, I have asked this question 3 times and no one has
answered it appropriately–please read and see if you can help–it
is based off of a basic micro lab that most classes do to learn
about oxygen/growth/microbes. This is a basic micro lab where P.
fluorescens acts as an obligate aerobe having growth on top of test
tube of thioglycollate, aerobic growth, no growth in gas
pack(anaerobe), growth in candle jar, and positive catalase rxn.
C.butyricum acts as obligate anerobe having growth everywhere
except on top in thioglycollate, no growth in aerobic environment,
growth in gas pack, no growth in candle jar, and no rxn to
catalase. S. aureus was facultative anaerobe with growth in aerobic
environment, growth in anaerobic/gas pack, growth in candle jar,
and positive rxn to catalase, and E. faecalis acted as aerotolerant
with even growth throughout thioglycollate, growth in aerobic
environment, growth in anaerobe environment, growth in candle jar,
and negative rxn to catalase.
I have already done the relationship of oxygen to growth
microbiology lab–the one where you use tioglycollate, tsa agar
plates, and anaerobe boxes along with 4 different cultures
(Pseudomonas fluorescens, Clostridium butyricum, Staphylococcus
aureus, Enterococcus faecalis) to determine obligate anerobes,
obligate aerobes, facultative, and aerotolerant; it was found that
P. flurorescens was an obligate aerobe, C. butyricum was an
obligate anerobe, S. aureus was a facultative anaerobe, and E.
faecalis was an aerotolerant(results above). We used
thioglycollate, aerobic, gas pack, candle jar, and catalse to
determine these classifications. Now I have to come up with a
hypothesis using the data collected from this experiment–here are
